12/06/15 Open Day Review: Another Great year for EMiR Development
The EMiR team would like to express its appreciation to everyone that made our Open Day a massive success on Tuesday the 9th of June. Over 60 people took time out of their busy schedules and made the journey to Old Trafford.

The theme of the day was ‘We want to let you know what EMiR can do for you!’ As a showcase to new businesses, the Open Day offered an overview of EMiR and what has been achieved in over 20 years of development and an insight into the future direction of the EMiR product range. For our existing customers, who already benefit from EMiR in their businesses, the Open Day was an opportunity to review and 'try out' the latest Module and Extension releases and recap on new functionality added over the last 12 months. As 90% of all changes made to EMiR come from customer requests, it is a vital part of our development strategy to meet with our customers regularly and receive their feedback.
Now to the big news of the day, the launch of Smart Site, an application specifically designed for site engineers. When out on the road, what does an engineer need to see? Well, the schedule of jobs pending and detail of what’s to be done. This is sent over to the specific engineer’s phone including the jobs priority status. As the job is worked on the engineer can enter time and materials used, take pictures, conduct service and safety checklists and get the sign off from the customer before completing the job for invoicing.
Smart Site allows you to record information as it happens, eliminates the majority of paperwork in the system and the time it takes to get it back to the office. Importantly, an engineer has the freedom to work anywhere, whether a phone signal or internet connection is available. Smart Site is a valuable tool that saves time. On top of Smart Site, John Anderson, EMiR’s development director took us through all the new features added in the last season including a completely new look and feel to the product, updates on CRM, Sales Order Processing, Purchase Invoice Approval and stationery to mention just a few!
…and there’s more to come, an enquiry tool, more CRM, more Smart Site and integration work connecting SKF and Parcelforce systems to EMiR. More on these as they happen.

Jim Fowlie of SKF gave an update on the Worldwide Certified Rebuilders Programme and how SKF and EMiR are working together to integrate both software applications. Look out for the first release in early July.
