Women in Engineering

20.03.26 - EMiR & TEC host "Power Together" event

Power Together: Women in Engineering Driving Change

On 18th March, we were proud to host our latest Women in Engineering “Power Together” event at TEC Electric Motors Ltd — bringing together women from across the electro-mechanical sector for a day of open conversation, shared experiences and meaningful connection.

Delivered in collaboration with the Association of Electrical & Mechanical Trades (AEMT), the session built on the momentum created at the AEMT Conference “Power Hour” and reinforced a simple but powerful idea: when women are given the space to speak openly, the industry benefits.

The room brought together a diverse mix of roles — from engineers and apprentices to operational and office-based professionals — all contributing honest insight into the realities of working in a traditionally male-dominated sector. The discussions were open, supportive and, importantly, focused on how we move forward together.

As Junior Vice President of the AEMT, Kirstie Davies is proud to be leading this initiative, helping to shape a platform where women’s voices are heard and where practical steps can be taken to support greater inclusion and progression within the industry.

This work continues in April, when the AEMT will launch a dedicated Women in Engineering survey. The aim is to better understand the roles women hold across the sector, the challenges they face, and the support they need — ensuring future initiatives are driven by real insight from within the industry.

Looking ahead, the conversation doesn’t stop here. A follow-on #PowerTogether session will take place at the AEMT Conference on 24th September, continuing to build a stronger, more connected community.

Because supporting women in engineering isn’t a moment — it’s a movement.
